On the back half of the UFC’s two cards in two nights extravaganza this Saturday, middleweights Andrew Craig and Cezar Ferreira will do battle on the Fox Sports 1 portion of the card.
The UFC odds makers have Cezar Ferreira has a -190 favorite so bettors will need to lay $190 for every $100 the want to win on the Brazilian. Craig backers will win $155 for every $100 if he wins the fight.
UFC Fight Night Odds
Andrew Craig +155
Cezar Ferreira -190
Andrew Craig won his first eight fights, including his first two in the UFC but since then has gone 1 and 2 in his last 3. His victory over Chris Leben was a split decision and was Leben’s 3rd of four straight losses before he retired.
It’s possible that at 28 Craig has hit his ceiling hence the underdog odds UFC oddsmakers have put on him.
Craig isn’t getting an easy opponent to climb out of his funk but there is a chance against Cezar Ferreira. Ferreira for his part is coming off a quick KO loss to C.B. Dollaway. Dollaway ended Ferreira’s night in just 39 seconds. Coming into the fight, Ferreira had a three-fight UFC win streak. Can he shake the bitter taste of the KO from his mouth to overcome the increasingly desperate Craig?
Ferreira won the UFC’s Ultimate Fighter Brazil in 2012, along side coach Vitor Belfort who along with the show, trains Ferreira outside of the reality series. Since winning the show, before the KO, Ferreira won three straight, the aforementioned TUF Brazil Finale and a submission win over UFC newcomer Thiago Santos and a split decision against Daniel Sarafian.
Ferreira is the easy favorite in this fight, it’s not to say he’ll win but given their most recent fights and their trajectory that each is on, Craig deserves to be the underdog and if he doesn’t upset Ferreira in this fight he could be looking for new employment.
