UFC Fight Night 45 Odds
John Lineker -260
Alptekin Ozkilic +200

John Lineker is fighting for a job, well not so much fighting but rather dieting for a job. Lineker is 4-2 in six fights in the UFC but he’s missed weight 3 times in those six fights including 2 of his last 3 fights. He even missed weight on his first attempt in his last fight but was able to cut the final pounds when given an extra hour to make weight.

It’s understandable a fighter wants to fight in a weight class that he feels he has the best chance to win but if you’re missing weight 50% of the time, it’s time to save your reputation, man up and fight in the next weight class up.

Despite the weight issues, he’s was on a roll winning three straight via TKO before losing a decision to a decision to recent flyweight title contender Ali Bagautinov.

Alptekin Ozkilic is 9-2 in his career and 1-1 in the UFC. His loss come to Louis Smolka who was making his UFC debut and his victory came in his own debut, a split decision loss to Darren Uyenoyama. He could easily be 0-2 but he’s not in any danger of losing his job with a loss to Lineker. The flyweight division is probably the UFC’s least stacked division with a dearth of talent.

That dearth of talent that’s kept UFC Flyweight Champion “Mighty Mouse” Johnson from getting the respect he deserves but I digress.

Lineker, if he can keep make weight and there’s no guarantee that he will, should win this fight. He’s a lot better finisher than Ozkilic. Ozkilic will need to use his wrestling skills to grind out a victory if he stands a chance but I agree with the UFC oddsmakers, John Lineker will win this fight although he may lose a battle with the scales before this fight can begin.
