Exciting and intriguing matchups are on the line when UFC Fight Night 40 happens this Sunday, May 11 (Saturday, May 10 CST) at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The main event will feature a five-round welterweight bout between the hard-hitting Matt Brown (20-11-0) and Brazilian Erick Silva (16-4-0, 1 NC).
Here are the moneyline odds of the Brown-Silva matchup as seen at Bodog Sportsbook:
o Erick Silva – 1.45
o Matt Brown – 2.78
Brown has won his last six matches in the past two years, five of them by knockout. In addition, he had the garnered knockout and fight of the night awards in his last two fights.
Silva has been flipping through results in the past years, which resulted to a record of three wins and three loses. However, those wins were exceptional. Silva bagged submission of the night accolades twice and his last win, a technical knockout over Takenori Sato, earned him the performance of the night.
Brown and Silva offer contrasting styles, which makes this fight interesting. Brown tends to fight reckless and looking to floor his foe with a big blow while Silva prefers to work through his opponent’s defense and settle on making him submit.
Given proper discipline and technique, they say that submission artists tend overpower sluggers. As such, Silva’s currently getting the upper hand among fight pundits, but it is hard to overlook Brown’s current unbeaten streak and manner of winning.
