UFC Fight Night 41: Munoz vs. Mousasi is the first of two cards the UFC is running on May 31 with The Ultimate Fighter Brazil Finale taking place a half a world away in Sao Paulo Brazil. Ultimate Fight Night is a UFC Fight Pass event for those living in the United States, for everyone else check your television listings.
In the Co-Main event, C.B. Dollaway (14-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC) will take on former BodogFight fighter Francis Carmont (22-8 MMA, 6-1 UFC) in the UFC’s middleweight division. The UFC oddsmakers have set Carmont as the -165 favorite so bettors will need to risk $165 for every $100 they want to win on the French native. Dollaway is a small underdog here with bookies paying $135 for every $100 risked.
• C.B. Dollaway = +135
• Francis Carmont = -165
We hold a special place in our hearts for fighters that have appeared in BodogFight before it disbanded. Although Carmont only fought in one BodogFight event, he made it count by finishing Todd Broadaway at 3:12 of the first at BodogFight – Costa Rica Combat.
Carmont trains out of the Tristar Gym in Montreal, which is home to former welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, current welterweight contender Rory MacDonald and a slew of other title hopefuls. Carmont had been on a run that would have put him into the title picture but he was absolutely smothered by Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in their February fight. Carmont needs a victory over Dollaway to re-establish his lost momentum.
Dollaway is coming off a brilliant 39 second KO of Cezar Ferreira. He’ll look to finish the fight against Carmont but it’s unlikely he’ll be able to hit with a quick finish but that doesn’t mean he won’t come with an early barrage of strikes. Carmont is a big strong middleweight, except for the Jacare fight where he looked out of sorts; he comes in with an excellent game plan and executes it well. If he can defend against Dollaway early, he should be able to come away with a victory. If Carmont doesn’t execute, he’s done.
